Sarah Threlfall

Personal Lines Handler

What is your new role at Routen Chaplin?

I am a Specialist vehicle account handler

Before working at Routen Chaplin, what was the most unusual or interesting job you have had?

Got to be working for O2. Technology was progressing fast and it was great to see the advancements in phone and tablets. The iPhone launch days were brilliant and there was a real vibe. The work got me some fantastic opportunities including a 5 day trip to London to meet other tech minded people at the O2 arena.

Do you have any particular niche is any insurance specialism?

I adore anything vintage especially vintage buses, most of my time is taken up with anything historic.

How did you come to take the role at Routen Chaplin?

Our firm was shutting down its operations for motor insurance and with it the buses. I was approached by Gemma on Linked in who had heard about it and after a couple of calls, I was offered the job and I couldn’t be happier.

How would you describe yourself as an individual?

Happy passionate independent

Sum up your job in three words

Wonderful, different and vibrant

What do you like doing outside of work?

Where do I start? I am a regular volunteer at various different charities. I am a platform foreman and engine cleaner at my local heritage steam railway. It’s a job I love dear and its such a thrill to see the engines come and go. I will do most duties including serving drinks on our bar trains and serving passengers. My love of railways has spilled on to YouTube and I have a channel I regularly update. When I’m not on the tracks, I volunteer at both a local heritage centre, both in running and researching local history and I volunteer once a year at my local church for lighting and sound for their annual play.
